Meet some of our locals

Bronwyn Lewis

Vancouver, Canada

Bronwyn was born and raised in Vancouver so she knows the city like the back of her hand. Her childhood stomping grounds were Southlands, Kitsilano, and UBC, and now she calls Mount Pleasant home. As a food and travel writer, she has tasted the best that Vancouver has to offer and has experienced some of Vancouver’s best accommodations. On her own adventures, Bronwyn has backpacked through Europe, travelled around Korea, and eaten her way through New Orleans, Atlanta, Hawaii, and San Francisco. She recently put her planning skills to the test with a jam-packed Disneyland trip. Bronwyn knows the best of British Columbia whether that be resorts, luxury accommodations, breweries and wineries, or restaurants. As an itinerary writer with WayLocal, Bronwyn is looking forward to sharing her insider knowledge of one of the most stunning cities in North America, Vancouver.

Grace Vela

Vancouver, Canada

Grace has been traveling like a local since she was born.  Born in Zimbabwe, her family moved to Trinidad when she was 3 months old and stayed for 3 years. Her parents loved exploring everything from libraries, beaches to live music.  After returning to Zimbabwe her family traveled to Toronto, Canada where she attended elementary and  high school and the explorations continued.  One of her favourite childhood memories was a roadtrip to Sudbury Ontario to visit family friends for Christmas. There's nothing like a northern Ontario road tripe in the middle of winter. As a child from a large family with 5 siblings, she learned how to travel economically but to always make the most of every trip.  She has traveled to over 25 countries and now travels with her husband and 4 kids, with a goal of never going to the same place twice. She still loves to explore local libraries and has been to the one of the largest libraries established in ancient times, in Alexandria, Egypt. These days, the North Vancouver City Library is her favourite coffee spot, with its incredible views.

Mark Buckingham

Vancouver, BC

Born and raised in a small town in Ontario, he arrived in Vancouver after completing his Environmental Technology studies in London, Ontario. From the moment he walked out of the train station, his heart was overcome with joy while exploring the region. Off and on over the last fourteen years, he's been showing travelers and tourists around the city and surrounding area, highlighting the best it has to offer.

After visiting fifty countries he decided to finally call the city home. Even though he adores the downtown core, one of his favourite aspects is the random sights and excursions that can be found in and around the region, like Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast. He is familiar with many of the city's vibrant neighbourhoods and would like to introduce them to newcomers!

Sunsets are one of his favourite methods to end the day, and there are numerous locations from which to view them. Kitsilano, Wreck, Spanish Banks, Jericho Beach, and English Bay are excellent beaches from which to observe the sunset, as are the peaks of Queen Elizabeth Park, Stanley Park, Granville Island, and the Sea Plane look-out. He enjoys hiking and taking photos around Lynn Canyon, Horseshoe Bay, Buntzen Lake, Deep Cove, Bowen Island, Stanley Park, and The Chief, among other locations.
